Live stream & lyrics election N8EyI

Quote :
To celebrate their first nationwide tour, cross-dressing idol group Fudanjuku will be live streaming their concert on NicoNico Douga on May 5th at 17:00 JST (4:00 AM EST).

The group will also be releasing their latest single, “Ame Tokidoki Hare Nochi Niji“, on May 23rd. To commemorate its release, they will also be holding the first ever “Fudanjuku presents Kashi Senbatsu ‘Fu’senkyo” (Lyrics Selection ‘Fu’-lection). Producer Hanawa composed a new song for the competition, and each of the members has been tasked with writing their own original lyrics.

Fans who purchase a copy of the new single will be able to cast votes for the member whose lyrics they like the best, and the winning lyrics will be used for the final version of the song. The finished song will be included on an album to be released some time this year, and the winning member will also be awarded the center position in the song’s dance formation. The members will perform their various versions of the song during the live stream, and the finished song will be revealed at the end of the tour on June 30th.

Everyone should take this chance to check out this unique project that’s said to be a first for the idol world!

Since it's on NicoNico, don't forget that you can also reserve the show for timeshift viewing if you can't watch it live!

Live stream & lyrics election Empty
PostSubject: Re: Live stream & lyrics election   Live stream & lyrics election EmptyMon May 07, 2012 4:46 am

Hope everyone was able to catch the show; it was AMAZING! Unfortunately I don't know how to record streaming shows, so if you didn't... I'm sorry, I hope it'll be available somewhere, and in the meantime here's the setlist:

- 八常の武器
- 哀戦歌
- 夢幻のプロキオン
- 勝つんだ! (with Uramasa, Momo, Yukki, and Renji)
- Love Spider (with Koki, Rabuken, Koji, and Kyohei - this was AMAZING!)
- 風にのって

- MC segment - they talk about the lyrics election

- my home town
- Koji/Rabuken dance break
- Election performances!

Then there's a VTR a la host club dating sim. Hosts selected: Kyohei (talks about fairies) and Koki (very smooth... but kind of a stalker!). Meanwhile, Uramasa unsuccessfully tries to fend off an over-aggressive customer who knows pro wrestling is his weakness. Back to...

- 雨ときどき晴れのち虹
- New B-side: 勇気のFLAG (which is excellent, and also HILARIOUS, because Renji manages to break his flag)
- 同じ時代に生まれた若者たち

Encore:
- 風一揆
- せーので、ドンマイ!(which will also be the ending theme for a NHK anime! Koki breaks down crying during this announcement. Renji brings him a handkerchief.)

Generally splendid, and I hope I can rewatch it sometime! BUT, what we can watch, and rewatch, are the boys' comments on their election lyrics and studio performances! Lyrics and translations below in order of performance. And, while I think only live video can really convey how the performances went (rockstar!Uramasa trying not to cry onstage! Momo the super hero! Crazy charisma from Koki, Koji, and Renji!), this stage costume photo may help:

Live stream & lyrics election O0480010

(More individual photos on the blog!)

And here are the members' lyrics and translations! I put them under spoiler cuts, because the post was getting crazy long.

URAMASA - http://www.nicovideo.jp/watch/1335937782

Uramasa's going first because he pulled the short straw... but he thinks this could give him a good chance: he wants to fill the song with his own lyrics to such an extent that there's no room for any of the other members who come after. He says he wondered if he was really necessary to Fudanjuku, and incorporated those feelings into his lyrics. There are a lot of things he worries about, and he'd like to be the center to show people that Fudanjuku really needs him. He wrote his lyrics to show everyone that he plans to do his best and become an indispensable member.

僕がこの世界にいる為に
Because I'm here in this world

Spoiler:

One of the MCs says that if Uramasa wins the members will all have to wear that kind of clothing. Uramasa says, "You want to see Ren-kun wearing this, right?"

YUKKI - http://www.nicovideo.jp/watch/1335937920

Yukki wrote about moving to Tokyo; he thought a lot about his own feelings as an Osaka kid working in Tokyo, and based his lyrics on that. He says there are a lot of people in Tokyo who originally came from other parts of the country, so he thinks they'll be able to relate. When he first heard about the election, he wasn't sure what to do, but as he was working on his lyrics he began to enjoy it, and he's looking forward to seeing how everyone else's lyrics turned out too. He says that the other members probably have very polished lyrics, but he just wrote down what he was thinking about at the time - "I can't go home right now, so I have to do my best!" - so he thinks that naturalness is a strength.

上京(仮)
(Temporary) Move to Tokyo

Spoiler:

Yukki's wearing his favorite baseball player (Yuu Darvish)'s uniform. He says he called the song (Temporary) Move to Tokyo because he's not really living there, just commuting.

RABUKEN - http://www.nicovideo.jp/watch/1335937988

Rabuken said he wrote his lyrics thinking about his own experiences prior to joining Fudanjuku. The theme is not giving up on your dreams: before joining, he loved singing and dancing but lacked a venue for performing, so he began to think that he'd have to give up and was really depressed about it. Joining Fudanjuku has made many of his dreams come true,
so he confronted his past experiences in his lyrics. He says that there are a lot of songs about not giving up on your dreams, but the way that message is conveyed depends on the writer, so he'd like everyone to hear his perspective. No matter what the results (of the election) are, if people can hear his song and feel supported by it, he'll be happy.

DREAM

Spoiler:

Rabuken said that his mother made his capris and he made his tie himself, but he noticed just before going on stage that the gold wasn't quite the same, lol.

KYOHEI - http://www.nicovideo.jp/watch/1335938051

Kyohei says he feels like he was able to write the song he wanted to write, so he doesn't want to lose. It's a love song about unrequited love, meant to evoke a thunderstorm, and it's also written with a student's perspective in mind. He says they've never sung a song like this before. He wanted to write something pretty, but he also thinks it's very honest and straightforward. He REALLY doesn't want to lose!

水曜日
Wednesday

Spoiler:

Kyohei has an umbrella as a prop for his performance... which he manages to break, and then spends his MC segment awkwardly trying to fix, lol. He says, in response to a question from the MC, that he named his song Wednesday because he's thought since elementary school that Wednesday was a slow, depressing day. He thinks his lyrics are the most literary among the members.

MOMO - http://www.nicovideo.jp/watch/1335938123

Momo says that since each member was allowed to write their own lyrics, he wanted to write something Momo-like that only he could write... but he wasn't sure what that was. Ultimately, it didn't come down just to what he wanted to write or what he wanted to sing, because all the other members would have to sing it too. But he thinks that he was able to make it something that Fudanjuku's never done before! He wants it to be a performance that the audience will enjoy, and he'd like them to shout with him.

Momo says he wrote his lyrics thinking about how he'd like the other members to perform them, so they also ended up appearing in the lyrics. He wants to apologize for the way he used them... especially the punch line!

飛び立て!フゥレンジャー
Jump up! Fu-Rangers

Spoiler:

Momo says he was only able to include 4 colors in the given time, but he'll add the others if he's chosen!

KOKI - http://www.nicovideo.jp/watch/1335938193

Koki says, I am me! He wanted to write something cool. From the start, he wasn't too worried; he wasn't sure he could win, but he did feel confident he could write something cool. His theme is rebelliousness and speed. He wanted to pay careful attention to his first impressions upon hearing the song. His favorite music is rock, and he loves live performances, so he wrote his lyrics to suit that kind of song. He doesn't want to be compared to anyone, and he hopes his song will make listeners want to get up and rock out.

Speedstar

Spoiler:

Koki's got a mike stand and a fake guitar for his performance. He says he wants to form a Fudanjuku band! (I WANT THIS TOO, KOKI.)

RENJI - http://www.nicovideo.jp/watch/1335940414

Renji says he wants to be a man of culture... so, in light of that, he can't lose this contest. He says his song is a message to people who aren't trying hard enough in love and courage. Then he starts talking about world justice and the staff fast-forwards through lots of Renji-babble. Talks about how he thinks he's going to win because of his superior vocabulary. Then he started talking about loss of consciousness and the staff is like, okay, THANK YOU, and Renji's like WAIT, I'M NOT DONE YET.

help me venus!

Spoiler:

I honestly don't remember what Renji's MC segment was about, I think my brain was pretty much broken by that point.

KOJI - http://www.nicovideo.jp/watch/1335938241

Koji says he's the main performer - the others were like opening acts. He chose to go last so that he could leave his lyrics burned into people's minds. He says the song is very DoS and Koji-esque; even though people normally call him tacky and flashy, he wants to totally control a girl. Everyone, please let him control you too! After all, he's number 1.

Control

Spoiler:

Koji says that he wants to make the fangirls scream... but performing by himself's not enough, so he needs the other members!

And there you have it! I will admit right now that I'm not totally sure what Koki or Renji are on about, so if you've got a better guess, please let me know! (Seriously, Renji. Renji, seriously.) What do you guys think? Who would you vote for? Personally, Uramasa really won me over... but Koji, Koki, and Renji were also amazing in terms of stage presence and costuming, and I'd really like to see their versions with all the members, particularly Koki's! I think, despite what Momo said, his version actually struck me as the most Fudanjuku-esque with all the inside jokes... you can tell how much he loves the group!

Thank you so much for the recap, and for translating their lyrics! I didn't get to see it live but I'm looking forward to watching the concert later.

After having heard all of their songs... I don't know whose version I like best scratch I almost want Renji to win, if only to hear the rest of his lyrics Laughing

Oh my goodness thank you so much for translating! I'll see what we can do about getting a recording of the show up Razz

Amael, would you be cool with your translations being used to sub the election videos? I'm thinking we can probably do both the ones they have uploaded on Nico and the live performances as well!

I'm struggling really hard with who to vote for because I love Kouki with all my heart, but he's kind of already center and Maa-kun could really use the chance...

Sure, go for it! They're a bit rough, but if you think they'll work for subbing, that'd be great!

Yeah, I thought Koki was amazing... but I guess that's why he's one of the leads! (Ditto Koji.) Renji did way better by himself that I'd ever have expected, and I think his outfit was my favorite (the hat! *_*) but honestly... I can't see anybody BUT Renji singing those lyrics, haha. Maa-kun really broke my heart with his performance, though, and I think he did a really good job with writing meaningful lyrics that also fit the tone of the song. And I do want to see the rest of the members in that ridiculous outfit, negl. So I think ultimately, he's got my vote.

The show was good! But I don't like Niconico >.< It keeps freezing and it doesn't load and the image quality is bad...
I need a gif of Renji stopping the calls during the MC <3 Oh and I want that flag!

Thanks a lot for the translations!
From the setting and costume, I was partial to Koki (...ok, I'm always partial to Koki): I want a Fudanjuku band! Koji's costume was cool too.

But I like Uramasa's lyrics a LOT! And I'd love to see him center ^^ The outfit is... not a plus to me xp , but that could be fun too.
I like Renji's lyrics because rock songs with non-sensical lyrics are a thing, but I'd rather have something meaningful from my idols.
So as soon as I figure out how to vote for this (and if we can vote from abroad) Uramasa's got my vote!

Apparently Ame Niji comes with a ballot, AKB-style, so if your copy reaches you and you can mail the ballot back in time, I don't see why it wouldn't count! That said, I've never actually voted for anyone in AKB senbatsu, from abroad or otherwise, so maybe someone else can be more definitive about it. ^^

Thank you for answering! Because I clearly misunderstood everything. I didn't even think it'd be very short notice, I just convinced myself that the song would be on Ame Niji, so I expected online voting ^^"
It will remain a theoritical vote then, and I'll just hope their japanese fans will think like me! Well, like us =)

(I really should get myself an userpic)

I'm about 90% sure that it'll be online voting on a special site & Ame Niji will come with like a serial number to enter online for your vote. So if your copy reaches you in time, you should be able to vote!

I'm not totally sure but I think that's how AKB voting is handled too, since they have first day results & extra votes for mobile fanclub members etc. I know that's how H!P handles event lotteries, at least xD;

Fudanjuku fanclub members will also be able to cast an extra vote but they don't have the details on that up yet either.

Thank you so much for the translations!! I was only able to pick up bits and pieces being there in person but I'm really glad to have a full understanding of the lyrics now~

I've already preordered.... quite a few copies, and I think most of my votes will be going to Maakun. ;; w;; As soon as he started crying in the VTR I did too, and then again when he was crying on stage.... XD I absolutely cannot resist that little crybaby. <3 I think I might put a vote towards Ryouma too, since I've really gotten the feeling it's hard for him to be away from Osaka and I wanna support him... ;; w;; Ahhh it's so tough though, every performance was so great!

Also PS hi I should really post more and... get an avatar and stuff......

The concert is up in the Exclusive section, so if you missed out or want to see it again, check it out Very Happy

Unfortunately, though, it seems like I'm not going to be able to get a subbing team in time for the election ;; But I'll link the translations around! I am still working on getting a team together to do other stuff though! (old Fudanjuku Monogatari video stuff, maybe some Kirameki episodes, etc.)

Just received an email from the official fanclub. The voting will be held at the below site (opens 10am JST on the 23rd) and fanclub members should receive an extra serial number in their email to vote. (So likely the CDs will have the same kind of serial number you enter to vote.)
